Sesame Chicken

Here’s a kid-friendly recipe for sesame chicken:

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
  • 2 green onions, chopped (optional)
  • Cooked white rice, for serving

Instructions:

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, ketchup, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger. Set aside.
  2. In a separate small bowl, mix the cornstarch and water to make a slurry.
  3. Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add a little oil to the pan, then add the chicken pieces and cook until browned and cooked through.
  4. Pour the sauce over the cooked chicken and stir to coat. Bring the sauce to a simmer.
  5. Stir the cornstarch slurry again and then pour it into the skillet with the chicken and sauce. Stir constantly until the sauce thickens.
  6. Sprinkle the sesame seeds over the chicken and stir to combine.
  7. Serve the sesame chicken over cooked white rice and garnish with chopped green onions, if desired.
