Sesame Chicken
Here’s a kid-friendly recipe for sesame chicken:
Ingredients:
- 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons water
- 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
- 2 green onions, chopped (optional)
- Cooked white rice, for serving
Instructions:
- In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, ketchup, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger. Set aside.
- In a separate small bowl, mix the cornstarch and water to make a slurry.
- Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add a little oil to the pan, then add the chicken pieces and cook until browned and cooked through.
- Pour the sauce over the cooked chicken and stir to coat. Bring the sauce to a simmer.
- Stir the cornstarch slurry again and then pour it into the skillet with the chicken and sauce. Stir constantly until the sauce thickens.
- Sprinkle the sesame seeds over the chicken and stir to combine.
- Serve the sesame chicken over cooked white rice and garnish with chopped green onions, if desired.
