Asian Chicken Chow Mein
Here’s a kid-friendly recipe for chicken chow mein:
Ingredients:
- 8 oz chow mein noodles
- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into small pieces
- 2 cups mixed vegetables (such as bell peppers, carrots, and snap peas)
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: sliced green onions for garnish
Instructions:
- Cook the chow mein noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, and sesame oil to make the sauce. Set aside.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat. Add the chicken pieces and cook until they are no longer pink in the middle.
- Add the minced garlic and mixed vegetables to the pan. Stir-fry for a few minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
- Add the cooked chow mein noodles to the pan, followed by the prepared sauce. Toss everything together until the noodles and chicken are coated in the sauce.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Optional: Garnish with sliced green onions before serving.
