Chicken Chow Mein

Here’s a kid-friendly recipe for Chicken Chow Mein:

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz chow mein noodles
  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breast, cut into small pieces
  • 2 cups mixed vegetables (such as bell peppers, carrots, and snap peas)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: sliced green onions for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Cook the chow mein noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the chicken pieces and cook until they are no longer pink in the middle.
  3. Add the mixed vegetables and minced garlic to the skillet. Stir-fry for a few minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
  4. In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil. Pour this sauce over the chicken and vegetables in the skillet.
  5. Add the cooked chow mein noodles to the skillet and toss everything together until the noodles are well coated with the sauce and the ingredients are evenly distributed.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Optional: Garnish with sliced green onions before serving.
