Jajangmyeon

Here’s a kid-friendly recipe for Jajangmyeon:

Ingredients:

  • 200g pork or chicken, diced
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 small zucchini, diced
  • 1 small potato, diced
  • 1/2 cup black bean paste (Jajang)
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 2 servings of fresh or dried noodles
  • Optional: sliced cucumbers for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the diced pork or chicken and cook until browned.
  2. Add the diced onion, zucchini, and potato to the pan and cook until the vegetables are slightly softened.
  3. Stir in the black bean paste, sugar, and soy sauce, coating the meat and vegetables evenly.
  4. Pour in the chicken or vegetable broth and bring the mixture to a simmer. Let it cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. In a separate pot, cook the fresh or dried noodles according to the package instructions. Drain the noodles once they are cooked.
  6. To serve, place the cooked noodles in a bowl and spoon the jajang sauce over the top. Garnish with sliced cucumbers if desired.
