Kid-Friendly Tuna Puffs

Ingredients:

  • 1 can of tuna (5 oz), drained
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup shredded cheese (like cheddar or mozzarella)
  • 1 tablespoon mustard (optional)
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped vegetables (like bell peppers or peas)
  • 1 package of puff pastry (usually comes with 2 sheets)
  • 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Prepare the Filling:
  • In a bowl, combine the drained tuna, mayonnaise, shredded cheese, mustard (if using), and chopped vegetables.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste. Mix everything until well combined.
  1. Roll Out Puff Pastry:
  • If using frozen puff pastry, let it thaw according to package instructions.
  • On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheet to about 1/8 inch thick.
  1. Cut Out Shapes:
  • Use a cookie cutter or a knife to cut out squares or circles (about 3×3 inches or 4 inches in diameter) from the puff pastry.

  • Place a spoonful of the tuna mixture in the center of each pastry piece.
  • Fold the pastry over to create a pocket or triangle shape, and press the edges to seal. You can use a fork to crimp the edges for a decorative touch.
  1. Egg Wash:
  • Place the filled puffs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Brush the tops with the beaten egg to give them a nice golden color when baked.
