Chinese Spring Rolls
Here’s a kids-friendly recipe for Chinese spring rolls:
Ingredients:
- 8 spring roll wrappers
- 1 cup shredded cabbage
- 1 cup shredded carrots
- 1 cup bean sprouts
- 1 cup cooked and shredded chicken or tofu
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ginger powder
- Cooking oil for frying
Instructions:
- In a bowl, mix the shredded cabbage, carrots, bean sprouts, and cooked chicken or tofu.
- In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, sesame oil, cornstarch, sugar, garlic powder, and ginger powder. Pour this over the vegetable and chicken/tofu mixture and toss to coat.
- Place a spring roll wrapper on a clean surface. Spoon some of the vegetable and chicken/tofu filling onto the center of the wrapper.
- Fold the sides of the wrapper over the filling, then roll it up tightly, sealing the edges with a little water.
- Heat the cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Once hot, carefully place the spring rolls into the oil and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes.
- Remove the spring rolls from the oil and place them on a paper towel to drain any excess oil.
- Serve the spring rolls with a dipping sauce of your choice, such as sweet and sour sauce or soy sauce.
Enjoy your homemade Chinese spring rolls!
